Planting Tips & Instructions Dig hole twice the size of root ball. Backfill around the root ball with amended soil taking care to ensure the tree is not planted too deep. The root ball should still be visible after completing the backfilling. Make a basin around the tree, water deeply to settle soil. Yellow or dropping leave are signs of over watering or poor drainage.
